One of the services provided by Farsi Language Solutions is the translation of legal texts. By legal texts it is meant the type of texts which are created in a legal setting (courts, notary publics, etc.) and serve a legal purpose. As the law field is culturally dependent, therefore legal translation is not a question of replacing one word for another, rather the translator is concerned with the exact social and cultural equivalence between the source and target texts. A legal text is exact and technical with specific terms within a jurisdiction, therefore a translator must bear in mind the legal system of both source and target text, and understands the purpose of the text, i.e. either to inform the general public or be legally binding, so to be able to reproduce the same impact and meaning in the target text.

This type of text ranges from corporate documents, those created when a company involves in import or export activities or sets up a subsidiary in a different country, to personal documents like ID cards and certificates, the translation of which is inevitable while a person moves abroad.

Law is important to the life of people, so a lack of transparency in the translation of legal texts may cause expensive misunderstandings leading to a lawsuit in terms of a contract, for example. Inaccurate translation may also bear money consequences and legal ramifications as well as a lack of trust of a lawyer or judge.

As a result, a legal translator, in addition to fluency in source and target languages, shall possess a mastery of terminology of both the source and target legal systems along with a high level of research skills.

At Farsi Language Solutions, I work with a small team composed of a lawyer and proofreader to assure the accuracy and naturalness of the translations. Please contact me for more information.
